Assess Damage, Fill Gaps

Ceilings deteriorate and suffer damage over time. Leaking roofs, overflowing sinks and broken pipes can leave ugly ceiling stains. Ceilings are also sometimes prone to movement cracks. Cracks appear along the coving line, others right through the middle. First of all, we use either flexible caulk along the coving or powdered filler for flat areas.

Smooth Sandless Dusting

All ceilings get sanded before painting to remove any old paint lumps and other build up. We also use 120-grit sanding paper with our dustless sanding system. This helps ensure a smooth paint job and increases paint bonding.

Primer or No Primer?

On some occasions, we will need to use a specialised stain blocking primer. These are cases where there has been staining from water damage grease or nicotine. Using a primer ensures the ceiling will need only one coat of paint. The primer will help stick to the ceiling and absorb the coat of paint.

Paint Choice and Painting

Angled brushes and painters tape help to “cut-in” around where walls and ceiling meet. We don’t want to get ceiling paint onto the walls and we follow every precaution to avoid it.

We use emulsions and flat matt paints for most of our ceilings. Bathrooms or kitchens need specialised paint. All the paints we use are tried and tested for their quality and superior finish.

We can apply up to 3 coats of paint where necessary. We can also spray ceilings that have critical light conditions where required.
